Physical Education in schools provides children with opportunities to discover new talents, improve self-esteem, lead healthy lives and improve concentration.
TRIUMPHpe believes in giving every child the opportunity to ‘sport’. Therefore, we are partnering with schools to overcome barriers of time, space and expertise, to help them realize their dream of providing holistic development for each student. Although Physical Education is prescribed by most school boards, implementing it is difficult for schools as they do not have access to a scientific, age-appropriate PE curriculum and trained Physical Education Experts.
TRIUMPHpe offers a research-based curriculum approved by NASPE. Schools can avail our PE and nutrition education services for students of all grades.
A study conducted over a 39 year period consisting of 58,000 students revealed that standardized test scores and grades improved when physical activity was part of a student’s daily routine.
The quantity of time spent in letting students involve in physical activity is compensated by the improved quality of their overall education. There are multiple benefits of TRIUMPHpe program for both schools and children:
Children sit in class for 8 hours a day, 10 months a year for 13 years of school. Such routine is detrimental to their physical and mental health. They need to be constantly on the move, indulging in physical activity for at least every twenty minutes is necessary.
Our children’s lives are structured in a way which reduces their time to play. A child needs AT LEAST 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous PHYSICAL ACTIVITY every day. Childhood inactivity results in diseases, mental dullness and stress. Low physical and mental health impacts every area of life.
Teaching PE in school is more scalable because children spend a major portion of their active time at school. It is here where they engage in peer-to-peer learning and are most cooperative and active. Teaching PE in school strengthens peer relationships, improves academic performance, enhances cooperation with others, and helps set achievable goals.
PE helps improve mental function and perform better in academics! It strengthens and stimulates the brain. Active children are stronger and have a better mental function.
The curriculum is research-based and scientifically designed to match the ages and abilities of all children in a grade-specific format. Just as children progress from one grade to the next, so does the TRIUMPHpe program. Activities in the curriculum are designed to challenge children both physically and mentally, and this is the focus throughout the curriculum. Children’s skills are advanced every year while helping them consistently develop a lifelong commitment to health and fitness. The program incorporates sports through which children learn strategies and each strategy lends them life-skills that they can employ in other areas of their academic, professional and personal lives.
Children learn and explore the basics of movement and group dynamics while building the foundation for a physically active future. At this stage, children engage in development-oriented physical activity that helps them cultivate confidence, alertness and competency in motor skills.
Our program for Early Childhood (EC) represents a paradigm shift in the way physical activity has traditionally been instructed. The primary goal of our program for Early Childhood is to ensure that children engage in sufficient minutes of developmentally appropriate physical activity. Our EC curriculum and delivery ensures that all children are involved, highly active, incorporate school readiness skills, and become more confident and competent movers. Through TRIUMPHpe, children participate in enjoyable activities, many of which integrate with other subjects like reading, writing, arithmetic, and wellness concepts such as trying new foods and being active at home with a family member.
Children further develop their basic skills at this stage while being introduced to new movement techniques and patterns. Children enhance their spatial and body awareness, flexibility, balance, agility, directionality and motor and non-motor skills.
The TRIUMPHpe Physical Education for primary grades offers instruction and practice in a realistic number of diverse skills and activities appropriate for first and second – grade children. The curriculum is designed to introduce standards-based, developmentally appropriate activities without overwhelming students and to encourage maximum participation during class time. Active participation and practice in a positive, non-threatening atmosphere are the means for improving children’s physical skills, fitness, social skills, and personal enjoyment. Some of the major objectives of the TRIUMPHpe 1 – 2 program include body and spatial awareness, locomotor and non-loco motor skills, directionality, pathways, levels and tempos, balance, small and large objects manipulation, flexibility, agility and strength.
Over these years, children learn to master their basic skills and engage in various skill themes. They participate in more specialized and traditional sports, organized gaming setups, and enhance their sports knowledge along with motor skills.
TRIUMPHpe emphasizes health-related fitness activities. However, it is also designed to reach other traditional Physical Education outcomes, including the attainment of motor skills, knowledge and social values. The focus during class time, however, is on children being actively engaged. Rather than using valuable class time to disseminate fitness knowledge, this content is provided via TRIUMPHpe Home Play activities and during the cool-down and closure segment of each lesson.
At this advanced stage, children engage in a variety of fun-filled sports activities that help them gradually progress from basic moves to more advanced moves fundamental to sports. The sports themes help them develop a positive attitude towards winning and losing, along with making them fit, agile and alert. The activities also enhance their game strategizing, cooperative learning and leadership skills.
The TRIUMPHpe 7 to 10 program empowers students to adopt life-long activity and wellness practices. Through this program students apply the skills and knowledge gained in 3-6 program. Each TRIUMPHpe 7 to 10 unit addresses health-related fitness by focusing on high MVPA and inclusive participation. In addition, fitness-specific units are provided and are designed to be integrated into the weekly PE routine. Game Time provides a unique approach to learning and developing the skills and techniques required for safe and successful lifelong participation in a variety of sports. The TRIUMPHpe 7 to 10 program represents the next level of fitness and sports knowledge application.
